Real beat detection
Calliope runs the Beat This! beat-and-downbeat tracker (CPJKU, ISMIR 2024) locally through ExecuTorch. No server round trip, and no network needed to analyze.
Find the one.
A rhythm trainer for dancers. Pick a song, and Calliope maps its beat right on your device — then the 8-beat ring and 32-beat phrase map glow as you tap to find where the 1 lands.
No list, no newsletter — just a note from a person when it ships.
How it works
No metronome, no click track, no counting along to a fixed tempo. Calliope listens to the actual song and builds a map of where its beats really fall.
Pull in audio from your phone or Drive, or browse the built-in free music library. Your own songs work exactly like the bundled ones.
A neural beat tracker runs in the background, entirely on your phone, finding every beat and downbeat. Nothing is uploaded. Your microphone is never used.
The count runs live against that map. Tap where you think the phrase resets — then see exactly how far off you were, beat by beat.
What's inside
Every score is measured against the track's own analyzed beat map — not an assumed tempo and not a fixed phrase length.

An 8-beat ring for the count you dance to, and a 32-beat phrase map above it so you can see where you are in the larger structure of the music.
Follow the count out loud, guess how many beats until the next 1, or find the 1 cold with no announced target.
Take a tight ten-round set when you have a few minutes, or leave it running endlessly and keep drilling while the track plays on.
Add audio files from your phone or Drive, or search the built-in catalogue of freely licensed tracks. Analyzed beat maps are cached, so a track is only mapped once.
Accuracy, timing and streaks are tracked across sessions — stored on your device only, with no account to create.
A look inside
The interface stays out of the way while you're moving: big counts, soft glow, and nothing that needs reading mid-phrase.
Calliope has no accounts, no ads, and no analytics or tracking SDKs. Beat detection runs locally, and your scores and settings are saved on your device — they're gone when you uninstall.
